When it comes to corporate decision-making, the phrase “in our leadership meeting or executive meeting” is frequently mentioned.

This phrase often sparks curiosity, leading to thoughts about what transpires in these meetings.

Who are the participants and what roles do they play?

How are differing viewpoints handled?

How is consensus achieved on critical matters?

Unpacking these questions gives us a clearer understanding of how strategic decisions are made, which ultimately shapes the direction of the entire organization.

Despite their importance, leadership meetings are often seen as ineffective and tedious. The reasons for such perceptions are manifold.

One key issue is a lack of structure and clarity, causing the meetings to devolve into unproductive discussions that don’t result in tangible outcomes. Similarly, these meetings often suffer from a lack of focus or direction, with participants veering off-topic and wasting valuable time.

Moreover, some teams face challenges in fostering open communication, leading to a stifling of diverse views and the dominance of certain voices. This hinders the decision-making process, as it prevents the full breadth of perspectives from being considered.

Lastly, these meetings can be time-consuming, eating into the workday and not leaving enough time for the execution of decisions made.
